The United States Department of Homeland Security has begun to centralize the role of protecting the nation's critical government and corporate network infrastructures by creating the National Cyber Security Division. The new division will oversee the Critical Infrastructure Assurance Office, the National Communications System, the National Infrastructure Protection Center, and the Federal Computer Incident Response Center. The new unit will be broken up into three divisions which will: assess cyber security risks and develop ways to work with corporations to address them; oversee the Cyber Security Tracking, Analysis & Response Center (CSTARC), which will respond to security threats occurring on the Internet; and develop education programs concerning cyber security.
